![]() Imbolc Thursday, February 2, 2017 The festival of lights is also referred to as Brigid's Day. Brigid is the Celtic Goddess of healing, smithcraft, midwifery and poetry. The Goddess manifests as the Maiden and Brigid. Colors are White, and sometimes Red. It is a festival of spiritual purification and dedication. This Festival also marks the transition point of the threefold Goddess energies from those of Crone to Maiden. We can celebrate and honor he by weaving solar crosses out of craft straw, blessing water to bathe in or sprinkle our homes in purification, or making candles with magical intentions. We can also purchase small, colored candles and inscribe them before dressing them with magical oils. A nice tradition is to dress a candle for each person we wish to send health, abundance, or other blessing to, but always ask their guardian spirit or spirit guide to only accept the blessing if the person desires it. Prayer to Goddess Brigid Mighty Brighid, keeper of the flame, blazing in the darkness of winter. O goddess, we honor you, bringer of light, healer, exalted one. Bless us now, hearth mother, that we may be as fruitful as the soil itself, and our lives abundant and fertile.
